چکیده

Dermatophytosis are cutaneous mycoses caused by Microsporum spp., Trichophyton spp. and Epidermophyton dermatophytes. resembles other skin diseases due to its various clinical manifestations such as multifocal alopecia, circular lesions, scaling, crusting, papular pustular follicular obstruction, erythema, hyperpigmentation, miliary dermatitis dystrophic nail growth, diagnosis is based on the use of many different methods. Generally used methods; appearance, microscopic examination, examination with Wood's lamp mycological culture but these methods have some disadvantages. Microscopic requiring expertise, fast cost-effective method, in cases, microbiologists encounter specimens that microscopically negative give positive results culture. Examination can only be for M. canis specificity low. On hand cultures require a long time (3-6 weeks) definitive results, their sensitivity may decrease common contaminant growth. Considering reasons, new polymerase chain reaction (PCR) been developed dermatophyte agents. Compared molecular methods, PCR method easy, applicable identification species do not show typical morphological features. Although PCR-based diagnostic widely humans dermatophytosis, usefulness dogs cats has also confirmed. As result, dermatophytosis; it emphasized dermatophytosis ease obtaining samples, providing faster compared culture, should diseases. In this study, was aimed demonstrate effectiveness applicability practice, well which frequently dermatophytosis.

Identification of Dermatophytes Using Multiplex Polymerase Chain Reaction

BACKGROUND Multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) allows more than two target DNA molecules to be amplified with more than two primers. This method is also useful for detecting various other organisms simultaneously within a single test tube, and the scope of its use has been expanding widely in the field of clinical microbiology in recent years. OBJECTIVE To assess the value of multiplex ...

Detecting avian malaria: an improved polymerase chain reaction diagnostic.

We describe a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay that detects avian malarial infection across divergent host species and parasite lineages representing both Plasmodium spp. and Haemoproteus spp. The assay is based on nucleotide primers designed to amplify a 286-bp fragment of ribosomal RNA (rRNA) coding sequence within the 6-kb mitochondrial DNA malaria genome. The rRNA malarial assay outper...

Could polymerase chain reaction tests on conjunctival swabs be useful to diagnose herpetic keratitis?

INTRODUCTION Diagnosis of HSV-1 keratitis (HK) is frequently based on clinical findings. Invasive specimens (corneal scrapings, biopsies) are required for microbiological diagnosis. METHODS Corneal scrapings and conjunctival swabs were collected on patients with/without clinical suspicion of HK from 2007 to 2012. RESULTS The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values ...

Polymerase chain reaction method for the rapid detection of virulent Shigella spp.

Bacillary dysentery, or shigellosis, is a disease of humans in which the colonic epithelium is invaded by bacteria and subjected to inflammatory destruction. The aim of this study was to develop a polymerase chain reaction(PCR) test for detection of virulent Shigella spp.. For this purpose, the primers were designed to amplify a 526-bp internal region of the Shigella spp. icsA gene, which encod...
